Construction Nearing Completion
Following installation of the solar array comprised of 2,150 solar panel rated at 580 watts each, project work has been focused on the underground and building crossing electrical conduit and wire installation as well as all major equipment required for the system - inverters, transformers, switchgear, interconnection equipment, and a battery energy storage system.
The above items have been completed allowing startup, testing, and commissioning to take place in late September and early October to finish this project!
Due to the funding strategy utilized for this project, including a $2,000,000 grant from the Department of Local Affairs Energy Impact Assistance Fund program, energy savings will offset project costs providing a net financial benefit to the District's customers. This financial benefit is planned to be utilized to offset operational expenses resulting in lower sewer service rate increases.
Not only is this project a financial win for the District, but it will also provide a positive environmental impact by reducing 954 metric tons (73% of total District greenhouse gas emissions) of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions per year!
